Our spontaneous plans + what I'm loving right now

Hey Reader!

On Sunday we took a quick glance at the family calendar & realized it was our only free day— all five of us. So, we dropped everything and made our Annual Operation Christmas Child Target run. That’s about as spontaneous as we get!

🕵🏻‍♀️ Sneaking through the Target aisles' whispering, "Operation Christmas Child is a go!" like spies ...

... It was exactly the kind of unplanned joy I didn't know I needed

Which, honestly? It was a good nudge to stop sprinting and actually notice what's in front of me.

Anyway, that's my very roundabout way of saying I don’t want to miss the important because I am so tied up with the urgent.

So, in the spirit of small joys, here are a few things I'm currently loving:

What I'm Loving This Week:

🔧 Omni Focus:

Sanity saving tool … Especially in the fall, when to-dos run rampant.

Jordan Raynor talks about this in his book Redeeming Your Time on how to use this app, to collect all your open loops. But you don’t need a fancy-pants app, your notes app or even … get this … a piece of paper will do the trick. Here’s how it works: You write down every single open loop/to do down that crosses your mind. You can sort out and organize the list later, but for now get it out of your head.

📖 Bait of Satan

The kind of read that makes you constantly say, “OKAY BUT LISTEN TO THIS.” I’m about half-way through the book … It’s a game changer.

You’re going to want to have a freshly sharpened #2 pencil handy—there’s a lot of good one-liners!

🥦 Danielle Walker’s Burnt Broccoli Recipe

The easiest side dish you’ll ever make. Taste so good. Makes the house smell amazing. Plus, 1 sheet pan = the total # of dirty dishes, so that’s the biggest selling point!

Recommending a broccoli recipe? At 23 years old? Sometimes I wonder if I spend too much time with my BG Moms ... 🤪

📦 Operation Christmas Child Collection Week: Nov. 17-14

Collection week is coming up! CLICK HERE to learn more about OCC … this by far is one of our family’s favorite traditions … the best way to kick off the holiday season!

🍂 Rosy Rings Apple Spice Candle

Burning it non-stop these days, plus they are so pretty!

🗣️ Is it too soon for Christmas music?

This is a judgment-free zone, right? Because we may or may not have cranked up “We Need a Little Christmas”… plus a few other classics (lookin’ at you, “Baby It’s Cold Outside”). What’s your rule— November 1st? Day after Thanksgiving? Spill. 🎄

Because honestly? I’m starting to think our new rule is: If you never stop playing it, you don’t have to wonder when it’s okay to start again. 😉

Hit reply: What's one small joy that surprised you this week? I'm collecting these like other people collect match boxes.

Just behind OCC shopping, my next favorite part of the week? Emailing you! Thanks for being here, Reader! 🥰

Till next time!

Warmly,

2025 Mini Sessions:

Hey Reader! This week was supposed to be the one. Launch spring minis. Hit send on the newsletter. Cross a few big to-dos off that shiny new planner. Instead? We ended up babysitting my niece twice while my sister-in-law gets ready to welcome baby #2 any day now. And today, the house is full of birthday balloons & frosting sugar cookies for my sister's birthday! And in between it all, I’ve been trying to finish a handmade quilted baby blanket (as if we didn't know this little boy been coming...

Hey Reader! The challenge this week isn’t doing more. It’s not letting the pressure hijack the peace you just built. I’m easing back into work after a two-week holiday break—and truly, it was delightful. Somewhere on the drive home, I heard myself say out loud:“I think this is how it’s supposed to feel to be human.” We squeezed in so much quality time—my love bank feels full. 📽️ I finished our year-in-review home movie ⛰️ Gave the Yellowstone 2025 album as a Christmas gift 🧵Carved out time for...

Hey Reader— In less than a week, this Christmas will be a memory. 🥹 The wrapping paper? Gone. The tree lights? Unplugged. And your kids? Just a little bit older. That thought stopped me cold this morning. 😳 Maybe it’s the eggnog + snickerdoodles diet I’m on, or the whole short-days-busy-schedules combo, but I’m spinning a little at how fast these days are flying. One minute I’m planning… the next, I’m wondering how we got here so fast. Here’s what I’m reminding myself—and what I want you to...
