you’ll miss this someday… but here’s how to capture it intentionally now

Hi Reader,

Everyone says, “You’ll miss this someday.”

But no one really tells you how to capture it.

Let’s change that.

I spent the better part of this week on a ski trip in Breckenridge—snowy mountains, the cutest small town that looks like it’s straight out of a Hallmark Christmas movie, and seeing if my pizza ski stance can keep up with their *fancy* french fry stance. 🍕🫣

Last year, when everyone else left for the trip, my mom and I stayed back.

Because while skiing is fun… it’s hard to pass up a girls’ weekend.💅🏻

She spent that quiet weekend, catching up on her scrapbooking.

She’s got 3 out of 4 of the albums finished now. And she’s working through the last few pages of my younger brother’s Tot-to-Teen scrapbook.

The only delay?

He still has one year left to live before she can officially call that book (and all eight scrapbooks) complete.

(Two for each kid: A baby’s first year & a Tot-to-Teen.)

Every birthday growing up, we’d wake up to balloons on the table… and our scrapbooks laid out beside our presents, ready to flip through.

She documented it all. And I treasure those books. 🥰

But here’s the part that matters most & that I want you to know:

She didn’t always “keep up.”

Somewhere along the way between life, a serious illness, and homeschooling … scrapbooks were not the top priority. And that’s okay!

The system bent.

It didn’t break.

And if you’re anything like most moms I know, documenting your family’s story lives somewhere between:

“I should really do that…” and “Maybe next year.”

Here’s the truth.

❌ You don’t need double-backed tape and coordinating buttons.

❌ You don’t need to perfectly trim 30 photos onto a two-page spread.

✅ You need a system that works for you and your family.
You know, in between laundry piles, and snack refills, and spring break countdowns.

Maybe that’s …

• A yearly album you order every January
• Voice memos in your minivan
• A running note on your phone of funny things your kids say
• Or intentionally stepping in front of the camera a few times each year

There is no one right way to this. The goal is not perfection. It’s preservation.

And most importantly … it has to be sustainable.

That’s what I’m sharing in this week’s blog:

How to Document Your Motherhood Story.

In the blog, I'm covering:

  • 2 ways to document your motherhood story … that don’t even require you to use your camera!
  • How I sort my photos on my phone, so I can easily find & print my favorites
  • How a 2 minute video from each month, can easily become one of the greatest video heirlooms
  • My personal family legacy documentation plan & how to create yours
  • 2 of my favorite resources to make yearly family photos albums feel doable
  • How to make sure your family documentation system is sustainable, think long-term ... "your baby is graduating" long-term
  • The biggest things to avoid, so you don’t get overwhelmed
  • The easiest way to get started & one thing to remember if you already feel behind.

If you’ve been needing a way to make sure your photos don’t disappear into a camera roll of 20,000+ images…

This is for you.

And if part of your system this spring looks like finally being in the photos with your kids?
